Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Qatar agree on regular political consultations

In Doha, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Qatar held a third round of political consultations, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senik and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Ahmed Al-Hammadi.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"The parties discussed steps to further develop Ukrainian-Qatari cooperation in the political, trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian sectors," the report reads.

The interlocutors praised the sustainable growth rate of trade turnover, which in 2020 reached a record level in the history of bilateral relations – USD 139 million.

Food security of Qatar was also discussed during the consultations.

"Ukraine is ready to help ensure food security in Qatar and expand supplies of high-quality agricultural products and food to the Qatari market," Senik said.

The Ukrainian diplomat thanked Qatar's partners for providing humanitarian medical assistance to Ukraine to counter the spread of COVID-19 in 2020.

The parties also discussed the development of a legal framework and cooperation within international organizations.

They agreed to continue the practice of holding political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries on a regular basis.

As a reminder, the previous round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Qatar took place in Kyiv in April 2019.
