Zelensky meets with representatives of Ukrainian delegation to PACE

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with representatives of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President.

During the meeting, Maria Mezentseva, the Head of the Ukrainian Delegation to the PACE and an MP from the Servant of the People faction, said that the last visit of the Ukrainian delegation was very productive. According to her, the main achievement was the appeal of the powers of the delegation of the Russian Federation to the PACE due to the provided facts of violations taking place not only in Ukraine, but also in other countries, the president’s press service reports.

Mezentseva conveyed greetings to Zelensky from Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić and stressed that the Secretary General of the Council of Europe is going to visit Ukraine.

She also said that the invitation to the Crimean Platform was welcomed by many strategic partners and international friends of Ukraine, including the Baltic States, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and many others.

In turn, Zelensky noted that Ukraine is re-launching the competition for the election of a judge to the European Court of Human Rights according to the rules of the European institutions, and shortly our country will be represented in the ECHR by a highly qualified judge with international experience.

As reported by Ukrinform, Maria Mezentseva, an MP from the Servant of the People faction, was elected as new head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the PACE.

Prior to that, the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the PACE had been headed by a representative of the Servant of the People party, Elizaveta Yasko.
