Stefanchuk: Bill on local referendums to be represented this or next week

First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk has said that the first draft law on local referendums will be represented this or next week.

“I consider the adoption of the law ‘On the All-Ukrainian Referendum’ as a great achievement of our parliament. Moreover, as head of the group on democracy, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we are not completing the work on a large block of laws on direct democracy. And this week or, if there is no such opportunity, next week at the latest, we will convene a regular meeting of the working group on democracy, which will represent the first draft law on local referendums,” the first vice speaker said at a meeting of the Agenda-Setting Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to Stefanchuk, representatives of the civil society were involved in the work on the development of the bill.

As reported by Ukrinform, on January 26, the Verkhovna Rada adopted presidential law No. 3612 "On the All-Ukrainian Referendum".
