Putin not interested in mutually beneficial solutions – British journalist

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in finding mutually beneficial solutions and he does not need dialogue, according to British writer and journalist Luke Harding.

He said this in an interview with Tetiana Popova, a TV presenter of the Dom television channel.

"I think the point we've reached after two decades of Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin is really Western policymakers have to understand – what Kyiv already knows - that Putin is not interested in mutually beneficial solutions. He's not interested in dialogue. He has a kind of absolute KGB mindset which is adversarial and zero-sum," Harding said.

In his opinion, the main problem that needs to be solved in terms of international relations is to develop a policy of containing Russia, "a kind of Cold War doctrine."

"When you recognize you can't change Russia or Moscow, you may have to contain it," Harding said.
