Foreign ministers of Ukraine and Jordan discuss trade and food security

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba discussed with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi the intensification of relations between the two countries, trade and food security.

The foreign ministers discussed these issues during a phone call on January 25, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.

During the conversation, the parties stressed the importance of maintaining a regular political dialogue between the two countries and agreed to hold political consultations between the foreign ministries in the near future.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the development of trade, as well as the important role of Ukrainian exports in strengthening the food security of Jordan.

Dmytro Kuleba proposed to resume regular meetings of the Joint Ukrainian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in 2021.

Ayman Safadi supported Kuleba's proposal to send a delegation of Jordanian business to Ukraine to get acquainted with the opportunities provided by our state for mutually beneficial trade and investment.

A separate topic of conversation was the attraction of Jordanian students to study at Ukrainian universities.

The parties also discussed recent developments in the MENA region and further interaction between Ukraine and Jordan within the framework of international organizations.

The ministers exchanged invitations to pay mutual visits after the normalization of the epidemiological situation.
