OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to visit Ukraine next week

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde will make her first overseas visit in a new position to Ukraine next week.

Linde said this while presenting the Programme of the Swedish OSCE Chairpersonship 2021 to the OSCE Permanent Council on Thursday, January 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Already next week, I will travel to Ukraine to meet with Ukrainian officials, as well as with Special Representative Grau [Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Heidi Grau], the SMM and the PCU [Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine] to assess the situation and support efforts towards sustainable conflict resolution," Linde said.

She emphasized that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine must have safe and secured access throughout Ukraine and be provided with conditions necessary for implementation of its mandate.

On January 1, 2021, Sweden took over the Chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for a period of 12 months.
