President signs law on inland water transport

President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law on inland water transport, which was approved by the Verkhovna Rada on December 3, the president’s press service reports.

The document defines the legal, economic and organizational principles of inland water transport.

"The law regulates relations in the field of navigation on inland waterways of Ukraine. In particular, it establishes the conditions of operation of inland water transport, the use of inland waterways and coastal strips for navigation," reads the report.

The law also regulates the issues of property sunk on inland waterways, liability of ship owners for violations of legislation on inland water transport, etc.

The document implements the basic requirements of directives and regulations of the European Union in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU.
