Ukraine receives agrement for appointing Oksana Markarova as ambassador to United States

Ukraine has received an agrement for appointing ex-finance minister Oksana Markarova as the Ambassador to the United States.

"The Ukrainian side has already received an agrement for appointing Oksana Markarova as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, while the final decision will be made by the President of Ukraine," Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhenii Yenin said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

Asked when a new U.S. ambassador will arrive in Ukraine, Yenin said: “We are actively working to ensure that full-fledged contacts between the leadership of Ukraine and the United States take place as soon as possible. In a way, we are constrained by the epidemic situation, there are certain bureaucratic procedures that must be properly completed."

At the same time, according to him, "the signals we receive indicate that Ukraine will be one of the priorities of the United States, and this, in our opinion, will significantly accelerate the beginning of substantive contacts with the new administration."

"We are looking forward to the arrival of a new U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, and we are confident that he will have an extremely high credit of trust in the new American administration," the official added.
