MFA starts implementing Asian strategy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already developed and started implementing the Asian strategy, but this document will become public after the Cabinet of Ministers approves overall Ukraine's foreign policy strategy.

"The Asian strategy has been developed and is already being de facto implemented. It is not easy to work in this region, but there are many positive developments, we are moving forward. The only reason you have not yet seen the approved public document is purely bureaucratic," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said at an online briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He explained that after the National Security Strategy of Ukraine was adopted, the Foreign Ministry was instructed to prepare a Ukraine's foreign policy strategy as a basic document from which sectoral strategies such as the Asian one should proceed.

"We prepared such a document and submitted it to the Government for approval. As soon as the Government approves this overall strategy, we will be able to release the Asian strategy as one that pursues a common foreign policy strategy. But the de facto Asian strategy exists and we are working on its implementation," the minister assured.

As reported, on September 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the National Security Strategy of Ukraine elaborated by the National Security and Defense Council.

Kuleba said in April that Ukraine's pragmatic, stable, multidimensional diplomacy in Asia is part of a strategy to strengthen positions in the post-coronavirus world.
