FM Kuleba: We are ready to open new page in Ukrainian-Moldovan relations

Ukraine is ready to open a new page in relations with the Republic of Moldova.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated following a meeting with Moldovan President-elect Maia Sandu, Ukrinform reports referring to the Foreign Ministry's press service.

"Ukraine welcomes the successful holding of free and democratic presidential elections in Moldova, which have clearly confirmed the European choice of the Moldovan people. We are ready to open a qualitatively new page in Ukrainian-Moldovan relations,” said Kuleba.

He congratulated Maia Sandu on her convincing victory in the election and, on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky, extended an invitation to visit Ukraine.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Maia Sandu accepted the invitation and noted that her visit to Ukraine will be her first foreign trip as president.

Kuleba also thanked the interlocutor for her clear and consistent position on condemning Russian aggression and Russian occupation of Ukrainian Crimea, and supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.

He invited the Moldovan president-elect to join the work of the Crimean platform initiated by Ukraine.

"For our part, we will continue to support the territorial integrity of Moldova in the Transdniestrian settlement process and will jointly insist on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transdniestrian region," Kuleba stressed.

Also, as part of the official visit to Moldova, Kuleba held talks with Moldovan Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Sergiu Pușcuța, and Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanîi.

As reported by Ukrinform, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba paid a working visit to the  Republic of Moldova on December 9-10.
