President of Lithuania welcomes creation of Crimean Platform initiative

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda has welcomed the creation of the Crimean Platform initiative during a phone conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

As the press service of the President of Lithuania reports, Nausėda welcomed the initiative of President Zelensky to create a multilateral Crimean Platform to implement the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea in the international arena and prevent further violations of human rights on the peninsula.

The Lithuanian leader also praised the constantly strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and assured of Lithuania's support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.

The presidents also discussed progress in the Donbas conflict settlement. Lithuania expressed strong support for Ukraine's efforts to ensure territorial integrity and sovereignty throughout the state.

In addition, the heads of state discussed the tense situation in neighboring Belarus. An agreement was reached to jointly support the Belarusian civil society in the struggle for democratic values ​​and human rights. “We see that the current situation is not improving. Therefore, the extension of the EU’s sanctions against the Belarusian regime is of great importance. We welcome Ukraine's decision to join the EU sanctions package against the regime,” Gitanas Nausėda said.
