Parliament adopts law on support for businesses amid COVID-19 lockdown

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has adopted at first reading and as a whole the presidential bill on support for taxpayers in case of the introduction of the COVID-19 lockdown.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 305 people's deputies voted for the respective bill, No. 4430, at a parliament meeting on Friday, December 4.

According to the document, in order to support taxpayers during the lockdown, it is proposed to write off the tax debt to taxpayers if the total amount of the taxpayer's debt for all taxes and fees does not exceed UAH 3,060 and it was not repaid as of November 1, 2020 (this provision applies four million debtors for the amount of tax debt worth UAH 1.3 billion).

It is planned to postpone until December 29, 2021, the repayment of the tax debt of individual taxpayers, including self-employed persons, which in total does not exceed UAH 6,800 (the issue concerns the deferred payment of UAH 310 million by about 80,000 individual entrepreneurs and citizens), as well as to write off fines and penalties if taxpayers pay the tax debt on the main payment within six months from the date of entry into force of the law and increase the threshold of the tax debt to UAH 3,060.
