Kuleba: Ukraine expects close cooperation with Moldova's new president

Ukraine is ready for a new stage of relations with Moldova under the leadership of newly elected President Maia Sandu, according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

He said this at an online conference entitled "The Road to Warsaw Security Forum" on Tuesday, November 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We expect close cooperation with President Sandu,” Kuleba stressed.

According to him, Moldova is a difficult country in a political sense, and the victory of Maia Sandu became a balancing act for the country.

He noted that Kyiv is ready to open a new page in relations with Chisinau. Kuleba noted that Ukraine is already closely cooperating with Moldova within the framework of GUAM, as well as within the framework of the EU and NATO initiatives.

As reported, Maia Sandu won the second round of Moldova's presidential election. According to the election results, she received 57.75% of the vote. Her rival Igor Dodon garnered 42.25% of the vote.

Sandu stated that she wanted to conduct a pragmatic dialogue with all countries, including Ukraine.
