More than 399,000 unemployed registered in Ukraine – prime minister

In Ukraine, 399.7 thousand citizens are officially registered as unemployed.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this in his speech during a parliament’s sitting on November 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Almost half a million people have received the status of unemployed since the beginning of quarantine. At present 399.7 thousand people have the status of unemployed, compared with 361 thousand as of March 12," said Shmyhal.

At the same time, according to him, in the period between March 12 and November 17, 419 thousand people in Ukraine found jobs through employment centers.

Shmyhal stressed that the government is taking needed measures to stimulate the Ukrainian economy in order to overcome the effects of the pandemic.
