Health Ministry to consult with business, parliament and local authorities on tightening restrictions

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine will consult with businesses, the Verkhovna Rada and local authorities about the tightening of lockdown restrictions, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada on November 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Ministry of Health and the chief sanitary doctor have been instructed to hold consultations with business, associations, the Verkhovna Rada, and city mayors. They should adopt a finally agreed action plan that can be implemented in the event of an increase in the incidence rate," Shmyhal emphasized.

He called on Ukrainians to limit social contacts and noted that the introduction of tougher lockdown restrictions depends on the whole society and its observance of the rules.

As Ukrinform reported, on November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a weekend lockdown in Ukraine - from November 14 to 30.

As of November 17, Ukraine reported 557,657 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 11,968 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
