Ukraine calls for holding Normandy summit this year

The Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group for the Settlement of the Situation in Donbas has said it is very important to hold a summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries by the end of 2020.

The Ukrainian delegation to the TCG reported this on its Facebook page following the November 11 meeting of the TCG.

"The Ukrainian delegation considers it very important to hold a new high-level meeting in the Normandy format by the end of this year, which would be a powerful impetus to summarize the work done during the year and outline political and diplomatic ways for their further implementation," the report said.

The leaders of the Normandy Four countries - Ukraine, Germany, France, Russia – last held talks in Paris on December 9, 2019.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 6 that advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four countries were to hold a videoconference on November 13.
