Zelensky enacts NSDC decision on financing national security and defense

President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on proposals to envisage at least UAH 267 billion in the 2021 state budget for the national security and defense sector.

The relevant decree, No.486/2020, as of November 5 has been posted the president’s website.

"To put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine as of November 5, 2020  ‘On proposals to the draft Law of Ukraine ‘On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021’ regarding the articles related to Ukraine’s national security and defense,” reads the document.

By the NSDC decision, when completing the draft law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021,” the government must envisage expenditures on ensuring Ukraine’s national security and defense in the amount of not less than 5.93 percent of GDP for the security and defense sector of Ukraine. The funding for the needs of the security and defense sector is envisaged at UAH 267.251 billion.
