Minister Chernyshov tests positive for COVID-19

Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov has tested positive for COVID-19 and he is currently in self-isolation, the press service of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development has reported.

According to the report, First Deputy Minister Vasyl Lozynsky will fulfill the minister's duties during Chernyshov's absence.

"I plan to spend the next two weeks in self-isolation. I plan to solve and control all issues remotely. This year, we all need to master this habit and learn to be effective in real life, while staying online. At the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, we were one of the first to introduce a remote format of work," Chernyshov said.

All employees of the ministry who have been in contact with the minister are taking coronavirus tests or stay at home in self-isolation. "The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development adheres to all rules of epidemiological safety, in particular, the temperature is measured at the entrance to the building, all employees and visitors wear masks and observe their distance. Sanitizers are available, all premises are ventilated," the ministry's press service said.

As many as 287,231 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine as of October 16, including 5,992 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
