Zelensky invites Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to visit Ukraine and emphasized the importance of maintaining people-to-people contacts, the President's Office has reported on Facebook.

According to the report, this is Zelensky's first audience with members of the royal family.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness Prince William noted the importance of the Ukrainian president's official visit to the United Kingdom.

Zelensky, in turn, stressed the warm welcome felt by the Ukrainian delegation in the UK and the importance of maintaining people-to-people contacts.

"People-to-people contacts are always the most important thing for countries. Ukraine and the United Kingdom share views on many issues," he said.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a number of issues on the international agenda, including environmental initiatives, bilateral cooperation on medical rehabilitation of servicemen, gender and social equality, and combating domestic violence.

The sides also discussed the need for close coordination around the world to overcome the coronavirus pandemic and ensure equal access to the vaccine in the event of its development.

Zelensky started his official visit to the United Kingdom on October 7.
