Canada offers assistance to Ukraine after plane crash

The Canadian government has offered assistance to Ukraine after the crash of a Ukrainian Air Force plane in Kharkiv region.

Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne wrote this on his Twitter account, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Just spoke to my Ukrainian colleague Dmytro Kuleba and offered my condolences on behalf of Canada following the crash of the military plane and the tragic loss of so many young lives. I also offered any assistance that Ukraine may need in these difficult times," Champagne said.

He promised that Canada "will always stand with the Ukrainian people."

An An-26 plane of the Ukrainian Air Force crashed while trying to land near the Chuhuiv airport in Kharkiv region late on Friday, September 25. There were 27 people (20 cadets and 7 officers of the Ivan Kozhedub National Air Force University) on board the aircraft. Twenty-five people died at the crash site, and one cadet died from burns at the hospital. One cadet is undergoing treatment.
