VR committee to consider bill on SBU on Sept 30

The Verkhovna Rada`s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence intends to hold a sitting on September 30 to discuss draft law No.3196 “On the Security Service of Ukraine”.

Secretary of the committee Roman Kostenko (the Holos (Voice) parliamentary faction) said this at a briefing on September 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The committee has represented a bill on the Security Service of Ukraine but has not yet made a final decision on it. Therefore, we have decided to hold an additional meeting, because there are many questions about functions - the presence or absence of the investigation, the transfer of functions of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection to the SBU, and so on. They are planned to be discussed at the next meeting on Wednesday,” the politician said.

As Ukrinform reported, earlier the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia stated that the Verkhovna Rada would consider a new bill on reforming the Security Service of Ukraine in September.
