Zelensky condemns assassination attempt on Navalny, waits for more detailed information

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned the assassination attempt on Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and waits for more detailed information on the issue.

"We really have a common opinion here about the situation with Mr. Navalny and we all condemn the assassination attempt on Mr. Navalny. And the whole world, I think, not only we, is waiting for more detailed information on this assassination attempt," Zelensky said at a joint briefing with Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz in Vienna on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Zelensky hopes that more detailed information will appear soon.

As reported, Navalny has been receiving treatment at Berlin's Charite hospital since August 22. Prior to that, he was hospitalized from a plane to a hospital in Omsk, Russia, in suspected poisoning.

The German Federal Government has recently announced the irrefutable evidence that a nerve agent of the “Novichok” group was used to try to assassinate Alexei Navalny. This is a serious violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, so the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was involved in the investigation.
