Ukraine's course towards EU, NATO meets common interests in region – Romanian foreign minister

Ukraine's course toward European integration and accession to NATO meets the common interests of Ukraine and Romania in our region of Europe, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu has said.

He said this at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Bucharest on September 8, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As for the principled position of Romania in relations with Ukraine, I assured Minister Kuleba of Romania's continued support for Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic course, based on our common interests in our region of Europe,” Aurescu said.

He added that he had also discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart other issues related to the European region. “We have very common positions on the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, and this is evidenced by the potential of our cooperation. We’d like to emphasize the importance of our dialogue in the future,” the Romanian foreign minister noted.

As reported, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is on a working visit to Romania on September 7-8.
