Govt to allocate UAH 100,000 to 28 families of Ukrainian political prisoners

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission, made a decision to allocate UAH 100,000 to 10 families of Ukrainian citizens who were illegally imprisoned by the Russian Federation and 18 persons who were released from captivity.

“During the meeting, the Interdepartmental Commission decided to pay UAH 100,000 in financial assistance to citizens of Ukraine, including 10 families of Ukrainian citizens who were illegally imprisoned by the Russian Federation and 18 individuals who were released from captivity,” a representative of the Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner said.

According to her, the provision of financial assistance is envisaged to address issues of social adaptation, rehabilitation and the implementation of other rights and needs of the individuals released from captivity and the families of those Ukrainian citizens who are still behind bars in the Russian Federation.

The next meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission is scheduled for the end of September this year. The frequency of meetings of the Interdepartmental Commission depends on the applications submitted for consideration, the ombudsman's office added.
