Biegun assures Zelensky that Ukraine has bipartisan support in the United States

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun who reiterated the United States’ support for Ukraine.

The meeting took place after a telephone conversation between Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, the press service of the Head of State informs.

"At the meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky raised the issues of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, including financial and military support for our country. Stephen Biegun stressed that the United States is a strategic partner of Ukraine and underscored that Ukraine has bipartisan support in the United States... Speaking about foreign policy, Stephen Biegun praised Ukraine's position on non-interference in the US elections," the statement reads.

Zelensky informed in detail about the progress of negotiations on ending the war in Donbas and promoting peace in Minsk and Normandy formats.

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State called it a great achievement to maintain the comprehensive and complete ceasefire for 31 days already.

The parties also discussed the action plans amidst coronavirus pandemic. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the countries need to cooperate in order to return to normal life as soon as possible and restore the work of all sectors of the economy.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelensky and Stephen Biegun visited PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and got acquainted with the work of the Continuous Casting Department of Converter Shop.

On August 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky made a working trip to Dnipropetrovsk region.
