Ukraine, Malaysia agree to expand political and economic cooperation

Ukraine and Malaysia agreed to intensify bilateral political dialogue at all levels, including within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to the Foreign Ministry’s press service, this was discussed during a meeting between First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar and Malaysian Ambassador to Ukraine Dato Raja Reza.

“The parties agreed to intensify bilateral political dialogue at all levels, including within the framework of international organizations, in particular the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and also introduce modern forms and ways of cooperation against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the report says.

The interlocutors expressed mutual interest in the implementation of joint projects in education, tourism, energy, agriculture, etc. in order to expand bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to human rights violations on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and to the militarization of the peninsula and the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov region.

Dzheppar noted the importance of maintaining international pressure on the Russian Federation and told about the initiative to create a formalized international platform - the Crimean platform, designed to ensure the coordination of international activities in the Crimean direction.
