Ukrainians stranded in Romania must leave country by Aug 12 - embassy

Ukraine's Embassy in Romania has warned Ukrainians that foreigners who could not leave Romania due to the COVID-19 pandemic must leave the country by August 12, the embassy's press service has told Ukrinform.

"Dear citizens of Ukraine! Please note that the period during which foreigners, who could not leave Romania due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have the right to stay in the country and when no sanctions or restrictive measures are applied lasts until August 12, 2020," the statement reads.

The embassy referred to a Romanian government order according to which foreigners have the right to stay in the country under entry visas for 90 days from the end of the state of emergency.

On July 27, Ukraine included Romania in the list of "red zone" countries with a high COVID-19 case incidence in the past 14 days.

Therefore, citizens arriving in Ukraine from Romania are required to self-isolate for 14 days at a declared address (possible only if the Diy Vdoma tracking app is installed on the mobile phone) or undergo observation in special institutions.
