Kuleba: Talks with Iranians on compensation for downing UIA plane started in Kyiv

The talks on compensation for downing of UIA plane have started in Kyiv with the participation of Iran’s delegation.

"Talks on compensation for downing of UIA’s PS752 flight with the participation of the Iranian delegation have started in Kyiv today. We have been trying to start the negotiation process for a long time and I welcome the fact that this has happened. The process will not be easy, but we are working to get the result, to achieve justice," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said in a video address posted on Foreign Ministry's Facebook page.

He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine would make every effort to get the biggest possible sum of compensation.

“This will allow relieving a bit the pain and grief of the relatives which they have been experiencing for more than six months. We will achieve justice, no matter how much time and effort it costs," the minister stressed.

The Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) plane (flight PS752) heading from Tehran to Kyiv crashed shortly after it took off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport at about 06:00 Tehran time (04:30 Kyiv time) on January 8. All passengers and crew were killed in the crash.
