Prosecutor General's Office sends 8th report on property violations in annexed Crimea to ICC

The Prosecutor General's Office has sent the eighth report on violations of property rights in occupied Crimea to the International Criminal Court.

"The Prosecutor General's Office has sent the eighth report to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. The report concerns large-scale and systemic violations of property rights committed by the aggressor country in the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimean Peninsula," the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office informs.

The corresponding data was collected by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea together with the human rights NGO "Regional Center for Human Rights".

In particular, almost 9,500 "judgments" of courts illegally created by Russia on the Crimean Peninsula were analyzed and 3,962 persons, who became victims of property rights violations, were identified. As noted, land plots of 3,712 people were illegally seized and real property assets of 250 people were destroyed.

"The occupying power has been pursuing such actions throughout the territory of the Crimean Peninsula for more than six years, with the involvement of almost all so-called ‘judicial bodies’ as 24 out of 28 district courts have delivered illegal decisions. The actions of the occupying power are a gross violation of Articles 53 and 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and may be classified as a war crime," the statement reads.

Ukrainian prosecutors and human rights activists note that at least two new victims of war crimes appear in the occupied territories every day.
