Minister Taran: All major conflicts in post-Soviet space linked with Kremlin

The roots of all major conflicts in the territory of former Soviet Union - in Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine - lie in Kremlin's aggressive foreign policy.

"It is now clear that all major conflicts in post-Soviet space - in Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine – are the elements of a single chain, one leads to another, but their roots lie in the Kremlin's aggressive foreign policy," Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran said during online meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) on Wednesday, which became the final one within Ukraine’s FSC Chair, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He pointed out that security situation in the OSCE area was among the key topics of Ukraine’s FSC Chair, which lasted from April to July.

"Russia's aggression against Ukraine remains a major issue of our national and regional security. Our country has been at war since 2014, fighting for the restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders," the Ukrainian defense minister stressed.

That is why the political and military aspects of Ukraine-Russia conflict remained the focus of Ukraine’s FSC Chair.

"The insidious assassination of a Ukrainian military medic in Donbas on July 13 is just another example of how important it is to make every effort to curb further escalation of the conflict and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law," Taran said.
