Ukraine reacts to Russia’s sudden battle readiness check on border

Russia's sudden battle readiness check on the border with Ukraine can be interpreted as a threat of force.

"Just don't call me an alarmist or a scaremonger... Such sudden checks of battle readiness of Russian troops, especially on our border, can be interpreted only as a 'threat of force.' May the lawyers correct me if I'm wrong…" Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar posted on Twitter.

Currently, Russia is conducting a sudden check of its troops along the Southern and Western military districts on the border with Ukraine on the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The check will cover 35 firing grounds and training fields, 17 sea ranges in the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. A total of 149,755 personnel, 26,820 units of weapons and military equipment, 414 aircraft, 106 ships and support vessels are involved in the battle readiness check.
