Zelensky fires Ukraine’s ambassador to Romania

President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Oleksandr Bankov as Ukraine’s ambassador to Romania.

The corresponding decree, No.274/2020, was published on the website of the head of state.

"To relieve Oleksandr Bankov of the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania," the document says.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote in his post on Facebook that the Government on Wednesday, July 15, appointed Bankov as state secretary of the Foreign Ministry.

“Together with my team, we will implement a number of changes in the Foreign Ministry by the end of the year. This will make the diplomatic service stronger, more modern, transparent and brighter where it is necessary,” Kuleba added.

As reported, Oleksandr Bankov was appointed as ambassador of Ukraine to Romania on April 4, 2017.
