President’s Office comments on outcome of meeting of advisers to ‘Normandy Four’ leaders in Berlin

Ukraine, France and Germany took a consolidated position during a meeting of political advisers to the leaders of the "Normandy Four" countries in Berlin. Russia took a break to prepare its answer.

This is stated in a statement by the Office of the President of Ukraine following an 11-hour meeting of political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format participating states held in Berlin on July 3.

“Ukraine, Germany and France have shown their readiness to make every effort to implement the agreements of the Normandy Four reached in Paris and to bring the summit in Berlin closer,” the report reads.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak took part in the meeting as part of the Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov.

The meeting in the format of negotiations, which lasted 11 hours, took place a few days before the next meeting of the TCG in the format of a video conference.

The parties discussed in detail, item by item, the process of implementation of the Paris summit agreements, and highlighted a number of urgent tasks to be implemented during the upcoming meetings of the Trilateral Contact Group to speed up the negotiation process and create the prerequisites for the next Normandy summit in Berlin.

The participants of the meeting agreed that every effort should be made to fully implement the decisions of the Paris summit. In particular, the parties agreed on the need for real measures to ensure a full and comprehensive ceasefire regime.

"The agreements of the Paris summit must be fulfilled. Ukraine, as well as its partners in the Normandy format, France and Germany, have shown willingness to make every effort to do so," the Ukrainian delegation stressed.

"Today's meeting brought the summit in Berlin one step closer," Yermak said.

For its part, the Russian party took a break to prepare a response to the consolidated position of Ukraine, France and Germany.

In the near future, the parties will agree on an agenda for the work of the TCG in order to bring the positions closer for holding the summit in Berlin.
