PM Shmyhal: New WB Country Director for Ukraine to strengthen partnership with state

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal believes that the newly appointed World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine, Mr. Arup Banerji, will strengthen the Bank's position as a reliable partner of Ukraine.

"I am pleased to congratulate Mr. Arup Banerji on the appointment as the World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine. I am assured that your experience will only strengthen the position of the World Bank as a reliable partner of Ukraine," the PM wrote on Twitter.

On June 30, the World Bank announced the appointment of Mr. Arup Banerji as Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine.

In this position, Mr. Banerji will lead the Bank’s engagement with governments, stakeholders, and partners in all three countries. He will oversee the delivery and implementation of the pipeline, portfolio, and knowledge products, and guide the future direction of the programs.

Arup Banerji will work with the World Bank’s sister institutions – IFC and MIGA, to strengthen World Bank Group delivery in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
