G7 ambassadors promise Ukrainian govnt to support reforms, help address COVID-19 effects

The ambassadors of the G7 countries promised Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to support Ukraine in overcoming the effects of the pandemic and in advancing reforms to strengthen the country’s economy.

“The G7 Ambassadors held a productive discussion with Prime Minister Shmyhal on May 28 about the Ukrainian government’s reform agenda and the response to COVID-19. The G7 Ambassadors reaffirmed their support for Ukraine in addressing the effects of the pandemic and in advancing reforms to strengthen Ukraine’s economy and democracy,” reads the statement on the Twitter account of the U.S. Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group in Kyiv.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the G7 ambassadors discussed the situation with the fight against coronavirus, economic and healthcare reforms, as well as cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vadym Prystaiko, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov and acting Minister for Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslavets.
