A meeting with families of Ukrainians illegally held in Russia-occupied areas of Donbas has been held with the participation of Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak at the President's Office.

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova wrote about this on her Telegram channel on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We have just finished a meeting, with the participation of Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, with families of citizens who are held captive in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," she wrote.

During the meeting, the parties focused on the creation of a working group at the Office of the President of Ukraine, which will include relatives of Ukrainian prisoners, as well as on the beginning of the work of the commission to search for missing persons under unknown circumstances.

"I will advocate for the speedy adoption of a bill on the status of prisoners. In addition, the issue has been raised regarding financial assistance to the families of our citizens illegally detained in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Denisova said.

The parties also agreed on active communication to analyze all available information in order to organize the logistics of the process of returning Ukrainians from captivity.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 28, the families of Ukrainians illegally detained in Donbas held a rally near the Office of the President of Ukraine.
