Ukrainians advised to temporarily refrain from traveling to Italy

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has recommended that Ukrainian citizens temporarily refrain from traveling to Italy due to the spread of the disease caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus in that country, according to a statement posted on the ministry's website.

"In view of the further aggravation of the epidemic linked to the spread of the new type of coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Italy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that citizens of Ukraine temporarily refrain from traveling to the Italian Republic. Compatriots who continue to stay in Italy should exercise vigilance and caution, follow the recommendations and legal requirements of local authorities, take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure their own security, in particular, as regards restrictions on movement within the country and residence, avoid crowds, as well as to report their whereabouts and contact details to the nearest consular institution of Ukraine or to register on the website https://friend.mfa.gov.ua," the statement reads.

At the same time, Ukrainian citizens who are currently in Italy should follow the recommendations developed by the Italian Health Ministry.

In case of fever, cough, shortness of breath or when returning from the countries most affected by the coronavirus, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advises Ukrainians to call the hotline 1500.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also asked Ukrainian citizens to track information on the websites of the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy (https://italy.mfa.gov.ua), the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan (https://milan.mfa.gov.ua), the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples (https://naples.mfa.gov.ua) and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry (https://mfa.gov.ua/ua).

"In the event of circumstances requiring immediate consular response, we recommend that citizens of Ukraine immediately call the hotlines in Italy to the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy (+39 3519 886 823), the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan (+39 3487 254 038), and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples (+39 327 736 48 22)," the statement said.
