Foreign Ministry: Ukraine sets ambitious tasks in visa dialogue with the UK

Ukraine sets ambitious tasks in the visa dialogue with the United Kingdom as part of the elaboration of a new basic agreement on cooperation, free trade and partnership.

"It is known that London's dissatisfaction with the EU migration policy was one of the reasons for Brexit. The Johnson government radically reviews its visa and migration policy and significantly tightens border control. In these circumstances, we launch a visa dialogue with the United Kingdom with the view of creating comfortable travel conditions for our citizens. We set extremely ambitious tasks before ourselves and our partners. However, it will be possible to talk about concrete results only upon the completion of negotiations, not the onset," Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar posted on Facebook.

As reported, on February 27, Ukraine launched formal negotiations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on a new basic agreement on cooperation, free trade and partnership. Strategic partnership and visa dialogue are key elements of this document for Ukraine.
