Honcharuk not ruling out introduction of post of deputy prime minister for economy

Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has said he is considering introducing in the government the post of deputy prime minister in charge of investments.

He said this in an interview with the Ukrayinska Pravda online news site.

"The direction in which we will definitely step up our positions is an economic unit with a focus on investment because we believe in it. The government's strategy is to increase investment," Honcharuk said, adding that there are several candidates for the post of deputy prime minister.

At the same time, when asked about the surnames of possible candidates for this position, which are being discussed in the media, he said that he had never heard, never met or talked to Ihor Nikonov, but had met with Rostyslav Shurma once, but he is not in the list being considered by the authorities. Viktor Pynzenyk's candidacy was not considered.

Honcharuk also commented on the situation regarding the creation of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and the appointment of Oleksiy Reznikov, Ukraine's representative in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, as the minister of occupied territories.

"He is an experienced person, a lawyer, and there is a question of transitional justice, that is, rather relevant experience in this case. And he's a good negotiator, and, in my opinion, a good manager. This is the person I am considering for this post, and if the parliament supports him, then maybe he will join our government team," Honcharuk said.
