Zelensky: Ukraine has no doubt about strategic partnership with U.S.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that there is no doubt in Ukraine about the continuation of a strategic partnership with the United States.

He said this at a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Kyiv on Friday, January 31, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"One of the most prominent American politicians, Franklin Roosevelt, was born yesterday, on January 30. He said: 'The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.' Today, Ukraine has no doubt about a strategic partnership with the United States of America. We are confident in the successful implementation of all our joint plans, the plans of Ukraine and the United States," Zelensky said.

At the same time, when asked whether the situation with impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump had damaged Ukrainian-American relations, Zelensky said: "I think it is the other way round."

He stressed that relations between Kyiv and Washington are "unwaveringly strong" and added that they are based on full trust, mutual understanding, and common long-term strategic interests.

"It seems to me that we have a new step in our relationship, a new feeling, we meet a lot. I'm not sure that these warm and important relations were somehow influenced by the impeachment of Mr. President [Trump], but I have repeatedly said that this is our strategic partner. We are doing everything to improve our relations," Zelensky added.
