Honcharuk and Timmermans discuss European Green Deal

Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has met with European Executive Vice President for the European Green Deal Frans Timmermans to discuss the launch of a Ukraine-EU dialogue to develop a "green deal".

"We discussed initiating UA-EU structured dialogue on European Green Deal," Honcharuk wrote on Twitter after meeting Timmermans in Brussels.

He also noted that Ukraine had already created an interagency working group to coordinate climate change mitigation under the EGD.

As reported, January 28, 2020, the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk is held in Brussels.

The agenda includes the discussion of the security situation in eastern Ukraine in the context of countering Russian aggression and implementing the Minsk Agreements, as well as the current situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

During the meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, the sides will analyze the progress achieved in the implementation of the Association Agreement and discuss the state of bilateral trade, ways to deepen economic and sectoral cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, cooperation in the field of justice, freedom and security.
