Prystaiko explains why elections in occupied Donbas are now impossible

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko believes that in today's conditions it is impossible to speak about holding fair elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas.

He said this during an hour of questions to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As for the elections that may occur in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, in my opinion, it is impossible to speak about fair elections in current conditions. This position is laid out in the so-called Steinmeier formula, which says that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), which provides an assessment of elections around the world, will be responsible for justice. I spoke with the leadership of ODIHR, who said that they do not understand how to ensure fair elections in such conditions," Prystaiko said.
