Zelensky: Pension payments to be raised depending on age of retirees

President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the government will introduce a new pension program for retirees.

He said this during the political talk show Right to Power on 1+1 TV channel on Thursday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We have come up with a very interesting strategy for raising pensions for people depending on their age.... at first, we will raise significantly - from UAH 400 to UAH 1,000-1,100 for retired persons aged 80+," said Zelensky.

According to him, UAH 13 billion is planned to be allocated for raising pensions in 2020.

Zelensky also noted that after the pension increase for retired persons aged 80+, pensions will grow for retirees aged 75+, then for retirees aged 70+ years and so on.

"We can't raise pensions for everyone because there are 12 million retired persons. We can't do it at once, so we divide them into such criteria," Zelensky added.
