EU comments on results of Normandy Four summit

The European Union welcomed the efforts of Germany and France to organize the Normandy Four summit, which took place in Paris yesterday, and defined the agreements reached as the first step towards resolving the crisis in Ukraine.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, said this at a press conference following a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ukraine was present during our conversation. We welcomed the efforts of France and Germany to host the Normandy Four summit, which contributed to a sustainable ceasefire, the disengagement of forces and a prisoner swap. This is the first step towards a political solution, important for Europe, which is interested in security and stability on its eastern borders,” Borrell said.

As Ukrinform reported, the Normandy Four summit was held in Paris on December 9. It was attended by the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany.
