Crimean court extends arrest of activist Prykhodko for another two months

Kyivsky District Court in Simferopol, occupied Crimea, extended the arrest of Ukrainian activist Oleh Prykhodko until February 10, 2020.

“As expected, the court extended the pre-trial restriction until February 10, 2020. During the court hearing, the defense filed a number of motions and all of them were rejected,” lawyer Sheikhambetov commented on the court decision, the Crimean Solidarity initiative posted on Facebook.

Sheikhambetov considers the decision "formal and politically motivated."

As reported, on October 10, the Kyivsky District Court in Simferopol arrested Oleh Prykhodko for two months, until December 10, 2019. He is charged with plotting an explosion at the Saky town administration.

Prykhodko denies his guilt and considers this case political persecution for his pro-Ukrainian stance.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful imprisonment) over the arrest of a pro-Ukrainian activist in Crimea.
