President wants local elections to be held all over Ukraine next autumn

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that he is going to a Normandy Format summit with the idea of holding local elections under Ukrainian laws simultaneously throughout Ukraine in the autumn of 2020.

He stated this live on the talk show "Freedom of Speech of Savik Shuster" on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"It's true. The feeling that we are one country and our people stay there [in occupied Donbas] must start from now. It may seem like a trifle, but I think it's not. Local elections are held simultaneously, according to the laws of Ukraine, throughout our country. Yes, that's our idea. I wanted to go with it, but everyone already knows," Zelensky said.
