Fate of law on special status for Donbas will be decided after Normandy summit - Zelensky

The further fate of the law on the peculiarities of local self-government in Donbas, which is valid until December 31, 2019, will be decided after a Normandy Four summit in Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.

He stated this live on the talk show "Freedom of Speech of Savik Shuster" on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"There is a special status law. It is valid until the 31st [of December]. It is valid. Will this law be extended and voted on in the Verkhovna Rada? This can be done only upon return from the Normandy summit. If we see some important reciprocal steps, then, indeed, we will talk about this law," Zelensky said.

When asked if there are plans to amend the Constitution of Ukraine, Zelensky replied: "Yes, as part of decentralization."

The Normandy Format summit is to be held in Paris on December 9.
