Razumkov calls on MPs to create equal rights for all citizens

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov on the International Day of People with Disabilities called on MPs to make every effort to create equal rights for all citizens.

"The International Day of People with Disabilities is marked on December 3... I think it would be right for each of you, both as a citizen and an MP within your powers, to make every effort to create truly equal rights for all citizens of Ukraine," Razumkov said at a parliament meeting on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The International Day of People with Disabilities was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1982. 

The Day aims to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of persons with disabilities and gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of their communities.

Ukraine ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on December 16, 2009.  The theme of 2019: “Ensuring the active participation of people with disabilities in society - the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".
