SBU chief meets with French ambassador

Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Ivan Bakanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins discussed issues of strengthening security cooperation between Ukraine and France, the SBU press center reports.

“Removing the SBU from outdated practices and creating a modern organization will provide us with great opportunities to work in an ever-changing operational environment, increase efficiency and effectiveness,” Bakanov said.

The parties discussed the interaction between security agencies of both countries in countering international terrorism and cyber threats. The interlocutors focused on the importance of implementing the planned reform of the Security Service of Ukraine, which will meet the expectations of Ukrainian citizens regarding the work of the Service.

The SBU chief also emphasized the important role of France as a strategic partner of Ukraine in resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine in the Normandy format.
