Ukrainian issue to be discussed at NATO summit in London – Stoltenberg

Issues of the situation in Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk agreements will be raised at the NATO leaders meeting in London on December 3-4.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this at a press conference in Brussels on Friday ahead of the Leaders' Meeting in London scheduled for December 3-4, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I am sure that the situation in Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk agreements will be part of the discussion in London. We welcome the efforts of the Allies in the Normandy format [France and Germany] to find a way to some progress," Stoltenberg said.

He recalled that the North Atlantic Council had just visited Ukraine. The representatives of the North Atlantic Council met with President Zelensky in Kyiv. They also visited Odesa, where they saw how NATO provided practical assistance to Ukraine, in particular, in developing naval capabilities and the Naval Academy.

"NATO will continue to provide practical and political support to Ukraine. At the same time, we will support efforts to implement the Minsk agreements and to find a sustainable and lasting political solution to the crisis," Stoltenberg added.

As reported, the United Kingdom will host NATO Heads of State and Government in London, on December 3-4, 2019.
